Alex Tuhtan | Director 

Alex practices in all areas of construction law and focuses primarily in assisting clients with complex projects and disputes. He is the head of our building, construction and infrastructure team and serves a broad range of clients ranging from contractors to property developers.

Alex has been involved in most kinds of construction related disputes and projects including residential development, infrastructure projects, defence projects, commercial development and industrial issues.

Some of Alex’s expertise includes:

• Front end: Preparing all types of construction contracts (including head contracts, subcontracts, consultant’s agreements, supplier agreements and specialty agreements), preparing adjudication applications and responses, advising on licensing issues for builders, engineers and architects and all types of construction disputes. 

• Security of payment: Preparing adjudication applications and responses, applications for judgment, subcontractors charges disputes, applications for the charges over property and sale of property, enforcing adjudication decisions.

• Litigation/arbitration: Complex construction disputes regarding claims for payment, latent conditions, EOTs and delay damages, technical disputes, insurance disputes, trademark infringement, defamation and misleading or deceptive conduct.

• Regulatory disputes: Disputes with the Queensland Building and Construction Commission regarding directions to rectify, licensing issues and other non-compliance issues.

​​Alex has over a decade of experience in all courts and tribunals. Alex has practised in every Australian state and territory and regularly acts for contractors, subcontractors, owners and developers, construction consultants and other construction professionals. 

​​​Alex is an author for several construction law publications, frequently hosts presentations and workshops regarding construction law and presents externally for organisations such as Legalwise Seminars and other industry associations.
