Emma Ward | Director

Emma Ward has extensive experience in contract drafting and negotiation and all forms of commercial dispute resolution, with a particular expertise in litigation and adjudication disputes.

​Emma embarked on her legal journey with the Queensland Building and Construction Commission, where she developed a solid foundation in regulatory compliance and enforcement. During her legal career, Emma transitioned to an in-house role at a leading Tier 1 construction company, where she developed skills in contract drafting and negotiation, risk management, and dispute resolution, playing a pivotal part in ensuring project success.

Emma has worked for a number of preeminent boutique construction firm where she acted for clients in various courts and tribunals in Queensland, New South Wales, Western Australia and Victoria. Emma has worked on several matters regarding:

  • payment and other related disputes under the relevant state security for payment legislation; 

  • review of decisions made by the Queensland Building and Construction Commission;

  • residential and commercial contractual and payment disputes, with a particular focus on complex delay claims and variations; and

  • preparation and negotiation of head contracts, subcontracts, supply and labour agreements, consultancy agreements, joint venture agreements and deeds of amendment and settlement.

Emma's experience in acting for various clients including principals, head contractors, subcontractors, residential builders, consultants, and homeowners gives her a breadth of experience and perspective that few other lawyers have. Her involvement 'at the coalface' of industry, within government and all sectors of private practice allow her to resolve disputes with out of the box tactics - bridging the gap between all areas of the construction industry.
